The Davis Chamber’s Legacy Award is bestowed on an individual or company that has positively impacted our county, sustained over years. Gary Petersen is certainly a great example of that and continues to give meaningful service to the community while owning and managing a thriving business.
Gary is a founding partner and is the managing partner, of Adams & Petersen CPAs in the Clearfield/Layton area. He has been in public accounting for 34 years and enjoys the connection that accounting has to every aspect of our lives. The firm is a full-service accounting firm for individuals and businesses from start-ups to large corporations with multi-state presence.
Gary has been involved in the Davis Chamber since its inception in 2001 when three chambers in the county combined to form the Davis Chamber of Commerce. He has served on the executive board for many years and has had the role of Chairman of the Board twice. He has been involved in many important aspects of the Chamber, including supporting the Legacy Highway to creating Davis Cable 17, a PEG cable channel owned by the Davis Chamber, to being past chairman of the Transportation Committee and participating in the Lakesiders, the Chamber’s ambassador group. He has witnessed and been an active part of its growth in size and influence.
Gary is currently in his twenty-second year as a council member in West Point City, where he serves as the Mayor Pro-Tem. He is in his nineteenth year of service on the North Davis Fire District Board and has served as chairman or vice chairman of the board for a total of 16 years. Gary serves as the Treasurer on the board of Associated Builders and Contractors of Utah and teaches continuing education and licensing courses. Gary also participates on the PARC (Pioneer Adult and Rehabilitation Center) board and is the Vice Chairman of its national affiliate, Service Source. These are only a few of the ways Gary serves in our community.
Gary’s hobbies include spending time with his wife Carolyn, four kids, and six grandchildren, gardening, and occasionally cycling on the quiet roads of West Point. He recently participated in the LOTOJA bike race for the seventh time.
The Davis Chamber invites those who would like to help recognize this fine individual and other business award recipients by attending or sponsoring the Davis Chamber Awards Banquet on the evening of Thursday, September 28, 2023, at the Davis Conference Center.
