Who loves SeaQuest Utah?! We do!! And we are thrilled to spotlight them this week. SeaQuest Utah believes in learning through exploration. They want you to touch everything and 80% of their exhibits are interactive. People are often afraid of things they don’t understand so if they are able to touch and learn about the animals, people find out they aren’t so scary! Interacting with animals also helps you learn about your environment and where you fit into it.
Did you know that many of the animals at SeaQuest were either rescued or donated? One of their birds was in a home with an elderly man and still had many years to live and he was unable to care for it anymore. The bird is now thriving at SeaQuest. They have rescued 395 animals so far and continue to do so. SeaQuest Cares partners with community-based organizations to support our local needs including foster care programs, children who are ill or have special needs, and also provide discounts to Title 1 schools for field trips.
SeaQuest Utah is home to approximately 1200 animals of 300 different species! They have many types of birds, amphibians, insects, marine life, reptiles, and mammals – something for everyone! Their new animals include Flash, the sloth, and two really cute, very curious coatimundis. Some of the animals you need to schedule interaction times in advance so make sure to check out their website before you go so you don’t miss out on anything! This protects the animals and the guests so they both have a great experience and the animals get breaks.
Melissa Crutchfield, General Manager of SeaQuest Utah in Layton, has been there since opening three years ago and is doing an amazing job. We interviewed Melissa – watch for the cute photobombers behind us!
We asked Melissa what she loved about the Davis Chamber of Commerce and she said, “I love how it connects us to all of the other businesses in Davis County so we can meet them and we are able to make partnerships and contacts.” We love having Seaquest be a part of the Chamber!
It has been a JOY to feature SeaQuest Utah this week. We are lucky to have the in Davis County and in the Davis Chamber. Check them out in the Layton Hills Mall lower level or at their website https://utah.visitseaquest.com/.
